In The Telegraph last week, Arabella Youens wrote of how the £3.4 trillion wellness economy has hit the Alps!
Homes in the snow are no longer just for skiing, but for snowshoeing, forest-bathing, and mindfulness in the mountains. Ischgl was featured in the article, as a place once best known for its après-ski bars, but also offers some of the best wilderness hikes. One of the longest in the region is the Paznaun High trail which spans 75 miles. Snowshoeing is popular here too. Director of Alpine Marketing, Jessica Delaney explained “The practice isn’t new, but in 2018 it experienced something of a renaissance. As a result, Ischgl invested in a snowshoe trail and it hosts a three-hour Moonshine Hike every Wednesday”. The hike finishes in a restaurant for fondue!
