Summer has come to an end, temperatures have dropped, and we have seen our first snow in the Austrian Alps! With Austria home to 8 glaciers, ski enthusiasts can get ready for the first snow of the 2019/2020 ski season, and enjoy some early skiing. See a few posts from some of our favourite glaciers below.
Hintertux first snow
The Hintertux glacier, which is Austria’s only all year-round resort at 3250m, is unsurprisingly open and offering fresh pistes to enjoy. Ski lovers here can test out the new powder, which is nearly half a meter deep at the moment. Also, more snow is predicted for next week, too!
Stubai first snow
Stubai is kicking off the 19/20 season this Friday 13th September! They have already had lots of fresh snow, and plenty more to follow. Stubai is Austria’s largest glacier ski resort and is only an hour from Innsbruck airport. So this resort is perfect for a weekend getaway.
Sölden first snow
Sölden, winter sports firm favourite, also received its first snow today. With several ski lifts opening on Friday 13th September, you can clip into your skis and start exploring the Rettenbach Glacier. Also, with even more snow predicted over the next few weeks, we can expect to see snow further down the mountain too, at approximately 1500m.
With such amazing snowfall at the beginning of September, let’s hope this is a sign for brilliant ski season 2019/2020!
