As the baby boomer generation matures, generation Y (age 20-35) have dominated the European slopes this season. This is not to say, however, that older winter holidaymakers are in decline. Instead of snowparks and off-piste runs, the baby-boomers are simply seeking out soft skiing alternatives, such as spas, sledding and Alpine walking ‘Soft skiing is becoming an ever-increasing trend in Austria. Ischgl

Originating over 4,000 years ago, snowshoes have been used by skiers throughout the ages. In 2018 however, the sport is predicted to experience somewhat of a Renaissance, as Austrian resorts like Ischgl invests in a snowshoe trail that guides visitors through the Paznauntal valley. The Moonshine hike takes place every Wednesday for groups or individuals, and the three walk is finished with a traditional fondue for all.
