Viehhofen is a romantic little village at the start of the Glemm valley in Austria’s Salzburg province. Ideally located between some of the most famous resorts of Saalbach- Hinterglemm and Zell am See. It is the perfect location to explore the surrounding area and to enjoy a range of activities.

Sharing the Saalbach – Hinterglemm ski area,Viehhofen offers the best of both worlds – a delightful little village with quaint shops and restaurants and the option to ski in Zell am See or the Ski Circus region.
Viehhofen forms part of the largest interconnected ski resort in Austria – the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn – with 270 km of perfectly prepared slopes. This ski area has something for everyone, from easy family pistes to demanding World Cup runs, and from adventurous fun park playgrounds to groomed moguls. Further to this, the Zellamseeexpress opened in winter 2019, giving access to a further 138km of skiing.
Viehhofen is ideally located only 70 minutes from Salzburg Airport and just 2 hours from Innsbruck Airport.
The Saalbach-Hinterglemm Ski Circus is a complete circuit of slopes across the valley. This means that you can ski all over one side in the morning and all over the other side in the afternoon! There are 90km of blue runs, 95km of red runs, and 15km of black runs at altitudes over 2,000m. With over 40 charming Alpine taverns to visit, there are plenty of places for a quick stop on the piste.
Thanks to the beautiful sunny pistes and runs for all abilities, Saalbach-Hinterglemm is a superb winter destination from mid-December to April. With 472 snow cannons, skiers will benefit from perfect snow conditions in every month of the season. There are many beautiful slopes which run through the trees and the skiing here provides lots of off-piste opportunities too. There is also 12km of classic cross country runs and a 2km high cross country run in the ski region.
The region has 55 modern ski lifts and has the highest proportion of fast ski lifts of any major ski resort in the world – so you can get to the slopes super-fast!
Saalbach has a great selection of ski schools plus central nursery slopes which are ideal for beginners. Additionally, there are four funparks, a nightpark, as well as a floodlit ski park.
The Zell am See- Schmitten ski area gives direct access to 77km of skiing. This includes 27km of blue runs, 25km of red runs and 25km of black runs. In addition to this, the Europa-Sportregion has over 130km of groomed pistes on offer with plenty of great runs for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. With 51km of blue runs, 58km of red runs and 29km of black runs there are lots of scenic pistes for you to explore.
Skiing down through the beautiful snow-capped trees, you can enjoy the fantastic views over Lake Zell. There are many welcoming Alpine huts dotted across the mountainsides. These offer traditional table service and great hearty food. Sit back on one of the sunny terraces and enjoy the glorious views and Austrian hospitality.
Viehhofen makes for a beautiful dual season retreat. The Glemm Valley is an internationally known mountain bike paradise, with numerous mountain bike trails as well as great bike parks in Leogang and Saalbach Hinterglemm. Many of the surrounding lifts operating in summer, can also be used for bike transport. The result being, you are able to reach the high mountain trails with little effort, before heading back down to the valley on two wheels on the most spectacular Freeride trails.
With Zell am See only 10 minutes away, all of our ski property for sale in Viehhofen benefits form this resort’s summertime perks. With glaciers, mountains and the lake to enjoy, this part of Austria is one of the Alps’ best-loved summer destinations. Here you can swim in the warm lake, take leisurely boat trips and enjoy plenty of other water activities including diving, fishing and water skiing.
