What We Love About Maria Alm :


The village has about 120km of skiing on offer in the region and is part of the Hochkoenig ski resort as well as Ski Amade, which makes up 28 ski resorts in total. Further to excellent groomed pistes, winter hiking pathways as well as numerous cross-country trails, Maria Alm is the perfect retreat to spend summer months thanks to warm temperatures and a wide range of sporting and cultural activities.

Maria Alm is conveniently located about 1 hour from Salzburg airport and 2 hours from Innsbruck airport. The international airport Munich is also only 2 hours 30 minutes away from Maria Alm. The resort is easily accessible by train thanks to the train station Saalfelden, which is a 7-minute ride away from Maria Alm.

The ski resort Hochkönig – Maria Alm/Dienten/Mühlbach is located on the Hochkönig in the Salzburg province and is also part of the Ski Amade, which is well-known as the second largest ski area in Europe.

The ski resort Maria Alm/ Dienten/ Mühlbach has 120km of groomed pistes on offer with a great ratio of black, red and blue pistes. In Maria Alm you can find 52km of blue pistes, 41 of red pistes and 19km of black pistes. Furthermore, there are 8km of ski routes. This region has an altitude of 800 m – 1900 m and offers therefore snow security the whole winter season. Additionally, skiers and snowboarders have a choice of 33 modern and fast lifts, ensuring short waiting times.

Hochkönig connects the ski resorts of Mühlbach, Dienten and Maria Alm am Steinernen Meer. Since the 2018/2019 season, Maria Alm has been completely connected to the ski area by the new Natrunbahn and Sonnbergbahn lifts. Enthusiastic skiers can find one of the most breathtaking ski tours in the Alps on the Hochkönig: the Königstour. This route covers 35 kilometres of connected slopes and can be completed within a single day, making it an ideal day out for the whole family. The amazing powder and endless expanses in the magical world around the imposing Hochkönig make skiing a very special experience.

Numerous lovely huts to enjoy after a long day on the slopes spoil guests with delicious Austrian alpine food.

All in all, it could be said Maria Alm has a great choice of sporty and cosy activities for reasonable prices.


Summer Fun:


In the summertime, Maria Alm is a wonderful destination with plenty of activities to enjoy. The area is a true hiking paradise as there are 340km of clearly marked hiking trails with all levels of difficulty. Along the pathways to the top or bottom of the mountain there are many delicious mountain huts you can stop at for some refreshments. On top of it, for those who don’t want to hike on their own, Maria Alm offers free guided hiking tours from June until the end of September.

Maria Alm also has fantastic bike trails in the area with a choice of easy routes to more challenging trails for the more adventurous advanced cyclists. On top of it, Maria Alm has a 1.6km long toboggan run to enjoy with your family or friends during summer months.

Maria Alm is also the perfect place to play golf. All players are fascinated by the landscape experience and the great variety of golf courses. For example, the Golfclub Urlaustal is located on a high plateau between Saalfelden and Maria Alm and offers 18-holes.

However, not only sports, Maria Alm also has a great choice of cultural activities on offer. Many buildings have been preserved over the years such as the pilgrimage church with one of the highest church towers in Salzburger Land, the Almerwirt from the year 1530, as well as Vorderjetzbachgut farm from the 14th century. There are also many festivals all year long such as the harvest festival, which everyone is very welcome to participate.
