Koralpe is a ski resort located in Austria’s most eastern mountain range. Koralpe is described as “a mountain for all seasons” offering skiing in winter and hiking as well as biking in summer. Koralpe is also known as Koralm and the village separates eastern Carinthia from southern Styria.
This small ski region only has a few restaurants and shops but is very pretty and feels like a private ski resort. It is extremely family friendly, and offers about 30km of pistes, including a good mix of blue, red and black runs. Koralpe is perfectly suited to beginners and more advanced skiers. You can find the slopes between an altitude of 1550m to 2070m. Due to its high elevation snow security is given.
The romantic and quiet village Koralpe is also the perfect destination for summer and mountain lovers with a 360-degree stunning mountain view. The Adriatic climate is a bonus in summer offering warm climates for biking, paragliding, hiking and Nordic walking on marked trails. Its highest elevation is the Große Speikkogel with an altitude of 2140 metres. It is thus a great location for sportspeople.
Koralpe Village lies at an altitude of 1550m to 2070m and there are nearly 30km of well-groomed ski runs, ranging f rom nursery slopes to carving runs up to 100m wide.
The perfectly groomed slopes comprise 13km of blue, 13km red and 3km of black runs; there are also 60 km of cross-country ski trails. The best thing about Koralpe is that is has the feel of a private ski resort and it is extremely family friendly so the children can roam freely in the mountains without getting lost!
The slopes also have newly installed snow-making facilities and thanks to an altitude of 1550m to 2070m good snow conditions are given all winter long.
Pistes are serviced by 5 ski lifts which can comfortably handle up to 10,000 skiers per hour so there are never any queues or crowds. Other activities available include a 3km sledding run, snow-shoeing, curling and winter paragliding.
Situated in southern Austria, Koralpe enjoys warmer weather than its Tyrolean counterparts. The Adriatic climate is a bonus in summer offering warm climates for biking, paragliding, hiking and Nordic walking on marked trails. In the Koralpe you can find various cycle paths and a bike park.
There is also the opportunity to rent a bicycle or mountain bike on-site. The mountains offer rolling meadows, clear mountain streams, waterfalls and numerous forests to explore. Furthermore, the Koralpe provides courses or guided tours to go riding, paragliding and Nordic walking.
The Koralpe is surrounded by various other beautiful villages such as the Lavanttal or Osterwitz, where you can find diverse castles, restaurants and mountains to explore.
