The legendary Hahnenkamm mountain lies between the towns of Kirchberg and Kitzbühel and is home to the world famous Hahnenkamm downhill race. This spectacular event takes place every January and is known as the toughest race of the World Cup circuit.

Kirchberg makes a fantastic summer destination thanks to its warm temperatures, numerous scenic lakes and wide range of hiking and cycling trails in the surrounding mountains.
The region has 88km of Nordic walking and hiking trails and mountain bikers are well catered for with over 800km of perfectly maintained bike paths to explore. If you don’t fancy cycling uphill you can put your bike on one of the many ski lifts which are open throughout summer. These can whisk you to the tree tops in minutes where you can freewheel down, stopping at the picture perfect mountain huts along the way.
If you are feeling adventurous you could always try rock climbing, canyoning down gorges and waterfalls or experience the full beauty of the mountains by paragliding over the Alpine landscape.
If you are a keen golfer then you will probably already know that the Kitzbühel region has the best golfing in Austria. There are four local courses and a further 19 within an hour’s drive. The four closest clubs are: Kitzbühel, Eichenheim, Rasmushof and Schwarzsee.
The Kitzbühel club is the most traditional course in the area and is renowned for its golfing prowess. Situated on Kitzbühel’s sunnier slopes and surrounded by mountains, the resort, clubhouse, ponds with two island greens and the old castle walls have become a part of the PGA quality experience. It’s impressive central location and successful heritage have made it one of the best known clubs in Austria.
